Members from the Blue Mountains Conservation Society handed a petition of over 2200 signatures to Member for Blue Mountains Trish Doyle at her office in Springwood last week.

With Parliament sitting again in early August after the winter recess, Ms Doyle will table the petition in Parliament and insist the minister respond to the concerns of the Blue Mountains Conservation Society and accept their long standing request for a meeting to discuss the special provisions in the Blue Mountains LEP.
"When I spoke at the Blue Mountains Conservation Society's rally to save our LEP, I threw my support behind their campaign to raise awareness within the community about the impact of the Baird government's standardised planning instrument," Ms Doyle said.
"As Blue Mountains mayor Mark Greenhill said at the rally, planning regulations aren't sexy, but they do matter.
"It's absolutely critical that the Blue Mountains retains the special provisions that set our local area apart from the rest of metropolitan Sydney, otherwise our villages and our community will begin to look and feel like just another Sydney suburb," Ms Doyle said.
"The Save our LEP petition was launched during the recent Winter Magic festival," said Kerry Horne, from Blue Mountains Conservation Society.
"In just five weeks we have collected over 2273 signatures and are expecting many more. We have been holding street stalls in the villages across the Blue Mountains. Residents have been incredibly supportive and we have had an overwhelming response," Ms Horne said.
