Two people are dead after a light plane clipped powerlines and crashed in northern NSW.

The plane crashed on the banks of the Clarence River river at Lilydale, about 25km west of Grafton, about 8.50am on Tuesday.
Acting Inspector Aaron Van Shaik from the Coffs-Clarence Police District said the plane caught fire after the crash.
The two people on board the recreational aircraft died at the scene.
Emergency crews including police, paramedics, Fire and Rescue NSW and the State Emergency Service attended the scene.
